Anthony, Ajax Amsterdam striker, commented on the scenes of his Dutch team's rejection of Manchester United's latest offer to join him.
In an interview with Fabrizio Romano, a transfer specialist, Antonti said: "Since last February, my agents have come to Amsterdam to tell Ajax that I want to leave for a new challenge, and that there are clubs interested in my services that will arrive and have great offers."
He added: "Last June, I cut short my vacation and came personally to tell the managers at Ajax, including the new coach, that I wanted to leave, and that they should think about it as a two-season project."
And he continued: “Over the months of the transfer season, the meetings continued and I also received a proposal from Ajax to renew my contract, and I made it clear again that I wanted to leave.”
And he continued: “Today (Friday) I met with the club, and expressed my old desire to leave, with a good offer on the table, and Ajax refused the matter, arguing that they have only 5 days to compensate me.”
He continued, "I am not asking Ajax to dismiss me, but to sell me with the highest offer made in the history of the Eredivisie. I have been insisting on this since last February, so that the club can rebuild the team in peace."
And he added: “I felt happy in Amsterdam, crowned titles with Ajax, built a part of my career and had friends, but I confirm now that I am ready and motivated to continue my story and follow my dreams.”
He concluded: "The fans need to listen to me and understand that my motivation moves me towards happiness. I want to play at the highest level, and that Ajax will always be in my heart. I hope that the Ajax fans understand that, the future of a footballer is always uncertain, and the opportunities can be unique."
