An Italian press report confirmed, today, Thursday, that Chelsea aims to contract with the Portuguese Rafael Leao, the AC Milan winger, before the end of the current summer Mercato.
Chelsea is seeking to strengthen its attack before the end of the transfer period, as it has already entered into negotiations with Barcelona to include Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
According to the Italian newspaper, La Gazzetta dello Sport, Chelsea are preparing to pay a huge sum, in order to persuade Milan to abandon Leao.
The newspaper added, that Leao is very admired by Chelsea, and they believe that he is able to compensate for the departure of the duo Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner.
Although Milan do not welcome the sale of Liao, they may change their position with the player's contract expiring after only two seasons.
The newspaper pointed out that the deal could rise to 150 million euros, as the player is required to pay 16.5 million euros to his former club Sporting Lisbon, after unilateral termination of the contract.
Milan will also be required to pay 15% of the resale value to Lille, according to the terms of the contract.
