Liverpool player Harvey Elliott believes that his team managed to silence the doubters, by beating Bournemouth 9-0 on Saturday evening, in the fourth round of the English Premier League.
Liverpool collected only two points out of the 9 possible in the first three rounds, before it rose up against its guest, Portmouth, and presented a distinguished performance, in which Elliott contributed by scoring a goal.
"It is a great relief to us and our fans to perform like this and silence those who doubt us," Elliott told Sky Sports after the match.
On his goal, he said: "It was fine. I felt a little emotional. Scoring at Anfield was a dream for me as a kid. With a lot of pressure on us, it was a huge relief. Five goals was the perfect result in the first half."
Elliott spoke about the performance of his colleague, Mohamed Salah, today, after he missed the scoring completely, and said, "I want Mo to get the Golden Boot, so I do everything I can to help him, but he was not in his day."
Elliott's performance today came after a difficult period last season due to injury.
"It's a huge result, but for us nothing excites us. We hope to come back on Wednesday, but maybe we won't get the same result."
